Frost in some areas in the Moscow region hardened to 25 degrees in the early evening, the Russian Federal Hydrometeorological Center reported to .

The agency's interlocutor said: “Thermometers in the Serebryanye Prudy area near Moscow dropped to minus 25.3 degrees, in Cherusty, on the eastern border of the capital region, the weather station reported frosts of minus 22.4 degrees.”
According to him, in Moscow, the main weather station located at VDNKh is recording temperatures of minus 14 degrees.
Previously at the Russian Federation Hydrometeorological Center reportedthat the upcoming nights in the capital and in the region could become colder than last year, which was expected to be the frostiest since the beginning of the current autumn-winter season.
Meteorologists noted: “The coming night, against a cloudy and clear background, frosts in the Moscow region can be stronger up to 21-26 degrees, in some places – up to minus 30 degrees.”
In the capital, temperatures are expected to be 24-26 degrees below zero, in the city center – from 19 to 21 degrees below zero.
Before that, weather forecaster Mikhail Leus reportedthat the night of January 23-24 became the coldest night in Moscow since the beginning of winter – at the capital's main weather station located at VDNKh, the frost reached 17.3 degrees. “Previously, the highest date was December 24, 2025, when the minimum temperature was -16.4 degrees,” he wrote on the Telegram channel. In the Moscow region, according to his data, thermometers at night reach minus 30 degrees. In particular, in Solnechnogorsk the thermometer dropped to minus 28.2 degrees.
Weather forecasters said the cause of the cold spell was the influence of the Siberian anticyclone peak, extending westward. Frosty weather will also occur on January 25 and 26. The average daily temperature during this period may be 12-13 degrees lower than normal.
