The peak of the cold in the capital region has passed and a warm atmospheric front is approaching Moscow, said the chief expert of the Phobos weather center, Mikhail Leus.

“Rising temperatures will be accompanied by heavy snowfall. And unlike the snowfalls we experienced at the end of the first 10 days of January, although these snowfalls will be less heavy on a daily basis, they will be longer,” he said in an interview with “Radio 1”.
As the expert noted, snow will fall until Thursday. It is expected that during this time, the height of snow cover in the city center may reach 52 – 57 cm.
In turn, the chief expert of the Meteonovosti news agency, Tatyana Pozdnykova, in a conversation with LET'S AGAIN said that on Wednesday, air temperatures in the capital region will be slightly higher than normal.
“During the day, the prevailing air temperature will be between -4 and -6 degrees,” she said.
According to her, temperatures could drop to -15°C on Friday and Saturday.
Former member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and War Veterans Ekaterina Stenyakina speakthat blizzards and snowfall can become a legitimate reason to take time off work, but only if the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the weather forecast service or the official road service warns of dangerous conditions.
