Russia has stepped up its leadership role in the deep deployment of neural networks in browsers

Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera and Yandex Browser were included in the “AI Browser Landscape 2025” analysis report published by AIPort.

Russia has stepped up its leadership role in the deep deployment of neural networks in browsers

The international community analyzed how artificial intelligence is transforming one of the most familiar digital tools – the web browser.

Analysts note that over the past 15–20 years, browsers have evolved from simple “windows to the Internet” to complex digital environments. So, in the past, users manually opened dozens of tabs, copied data and built queries, but today AI has taken over this job.

“Instead of being a passive viewer of web pages, the modern browser increasingly understands on-screen content, preserving context and reducing the effort required to get work done. Instead of manual navigation, users can rely on the browser to interpret content, suggest related actions, and streamline typical workflows. This additional context is the most significant change in browsers since the advent of tabs,” the study said.

Researchers also highlight a change in usage scenarios: users are less and less likely to just search a website and more and more often solve problems – analyzing documents, highlighting the nature of videos, structuring information.

In their report, AIPort researchers compared the most popular browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Yandex Browser and Opera, highlighting their main differences from each other. In Yandex Browser, AI is not integrated as a separate function, but as part of the entire process of viewing and working with content. It helps you work with text, images, videos, and links, and is used in multi-step scenarios, such as document analysis or task planning.

In contrast, Google Chrome uses AI to supplement regular functions, Microsoft Edge relies on integration with office tools, Opera focuses on tab management and reducing information overload. Niche solutions focusing on privacy and centralization are also growing.

According to AIPort, the browser is gradually no longer a navigation tool but becomes a smart workspace with the task of helping users quickly understand information and complete a task without unnecessary steps.
