The need to create an appropriate group was stated by the head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, in a message to the Parliament of the republic. According to him, federal government agencies will also participate in this work.
Khabirov turned to the republic's ombudsman, Mikhail Zakomaldin, asking him to establish a liaison office where relatives of military personnel could contact.
According to the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Tatyana Moskalkova, it was possible to determine the fate of two thousand soldiers previously listed as missing. Some of them were found in captivity in Ukraine.
