Police arrested former British Prince Andrew, Duke of York. He is suspected of inappropriate behavior in public service.
According to Express newspaper, police confirmed the arrest of the Duke of York. His homes in Berkshire and Norfolk were searched. In addition, six unmarked police vehicles and around eight plainclothes security forces converged on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's home at Sandringham Palace.
The former prince finds himself at the center of an investigation involving scandal-plagued financier Jeffrey Epstein. In 2019, human rights activist Virginia Giuffre accused him of raping her when she was 17 years old. In 2022, the Duke paid compensation and the proceedings were dropped, although he never admitted his guilt. Last spring, the woman was found dead at her home in Australia and her memoir was published in October. In it, Giuffre claimed that one of the contacts with the British king's brother took place on Epstein's private island.
New details emerged in files on the financier's case released in January. There were incriminating photos of Andrew, as well as evidence that he secretly sent government documents to Epstein. The British police even established a special unit, in which nine units participated.
GlagoL reported that late last year, King Charles III stripped his brother of all his titles and kicked him out of Buckingham Palace.
