At a press conference on flight readiness, a representative of the space agency NASA said the launch of the super-heavy crewed SLS rocket to the Moon is scheduled for March 6.
Scientists from the Solar Astronomy and Solar Physics Instrumentation Laboratory of IKI RAS and ISTP SB RAS spoke about the brief results of the press conference on their Telegram channel. They note the most important thing that has already been said: the preliminary launch date is March 6, and the entire company is focused on it. The crew attended the final dress rehearsal of the flight and are currently under light quarantine. Five days before launch, he will be transferred to strict quarantine at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the launch site, and will only be removed from there before launch.
What matters now is the decision by a panel led by NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, which will be made based on the results of the final readiness review (FRR), scheduled for late next week. A positive decision based on the results of this test would mean “let's go” (literally – go).
There are currently five launch dates in March: March 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11. All other dates are meant to be postponed until April.
What else do Russian experts who monitor all space weather “bumps” say? It, unlike previous launch dates in early February, which coincided with one of the biggest increases in solar activity in recent years, is simply ideal for the moment. All indicators are green. Scientists from the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences said that the three-week forecast is also extremely favorable.
