Can free position for the ending memories in the brain?

The free space on the computer or smartphone can exhaust if there are too many files and memory information. But can the Viking's free position in the brain be free? Livescience.com information portal I found it In the problem.

Can free position for the ending memories in the brain?

Neurological biologists believe that a typical, healthy brain does not have any fixed amount of memory that can be physically exhausted. The human brain does not store memories when the “file” is isolated in a special nerve cell. In fact, each memory is divided into many nerve cells scattered in different regions of the brain -such that -cheese groups are called internal autumn. And for memory storage method, another term used – a distributed representative.

Each individual brain cell plays a specific role in many memories. For example, imagine a conditional birthday in childhood: the memory of it is not stored in a specific “folder” of the brain. The color of the balls, the taste of the cake, the feeling of happiness and joy – they use and activate the different centers of the brain. Image bark, bark, sound system, emotional treatment area. They are activated in a certain order and the order of this nerve activity stores memory. And whenever someone thinks about this memory, he reproduces this order.

The dispersed representative has some significant advantages. Because nerve cells can participate in many different combinations, the brain can encode a large number of memories. The scientists believe that the models of the link memories are partially repeated, helping the mind to generalize and predict events. And even with damage to nerve cells, the memory is not lost, because other nerve cells are related to it.

But if the brain is not limited in memory, why can't a person remember everything in the literal sense? Because the brain memory system operates much slower than our real life. Information continuously penetrates the brain, but only its small part falls into the long -term archive: a person only remembers about 10% of everything happening to him in life.

The information falling on long -term storage gradually turned into a strong memory – this process is called the memory consolidation. But a person does not need to remember everything, and this is due to evolution. Our brain evolves to survive, so we instinctively prioritize important information for daily life. It is just a person who has learned how to remember things so good that we can remember what happened many years ago.

If a person is faced with similar information, the brain will move from the storage of specific memories about the union of general experience – the information programs are set. Therefore, you are not able to remember all your trips from home to home and return, because they are similar. The brain retains the details of specific trips only when something special happens, as an accident.
