US scientists have found the exoplanet GJ 251 at a distance of 18 light years from Earth.
Its mass is about four times that of Earth, and conditions there could allow water to be liquid. This was reported by researchers from the University of California, Irvine.
It was determined that the planet moves around an M-type red dwarf and makes one rotation every 18 Earth days. She was noticed by the way the star swayed slightly due to gravity.
GJ 251 c is currently considered a planetary candidate and is awaiting direct confirmation. A 30-meter TMT telescope is being prepared for further observations.
