Russian troops in Kupyansk and surrounding areas blocked a large group of Ukrainian rebels. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that about 15 battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are at risk of being completely destroyed.
The Russian leader announced these statistics during a meeting with the leadership of the General Staff and the Western group. The meeting took place at one of the western command posts.
The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the release of Kupyansk
“I mean Kupyansk-Uzlovoy and the surrounding territories, where, as far as I know, you also stopped a significant enemy group, recently there were 18 groups, now the Chief of the General Staff reports about 15 battalions,” the head of state said.
Previously, MK wrote that the Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, said in a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Russian army liberated Kupyansk.
