Winter will come late: what will the weather be like in Moscow on the weekend

November 28, 2025
in Opinion

The weekend, and the end of the month and fall, will be warm – at least from a meteorological standpoint. The temperature will be 5-6 degrees higher than normal. This is a huge anomaly. Scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, shared the weather forecast with “Moscow Evening”.

Of course, for a normal person, a temperature of about +5, + 6, even +7 degrees is not warm at all. Honestly, it's not summer. But for meteorologists, a significant anomaly allows us to call this weather very warm, which does not characterize the end of the calendar autumn. That's because the air masses are still moving from the west, but slightly changing direction from west to southwest. Hence the high temperature.

On November 28, the air mass will come from the southwest. Night temperature +3…+5 degrees, daytime + 4…+6. Like today, the temperature was 6 degrees above normal.

On Saturday and Sunday, the anomaly is not so obvious. Night temperature is about 0: –1…+1. In the region –3…+2 degrees. Daytime temperature +1…+3 degrees. In the range from 0 to +5. By the way, this temperature background is about 3-4 degrees higher than the long-term value.

The weekend was sunny and no rain. The wind is weak, the weather is calm, there is no winter at all.

On Monday and Tuesday, the situation will remain unchanged, meaning the beginning of winter will be warm. The temperature will differ by 4-5 degrees from the normal value. The reason is the steady transfer of air masses from the Atlantic Ocean. Here you don't even need to be a weather forecaster: just remember once that if air moves from the Atlantic Ocean, then in winter this movement corresponds to warm weather, positive irregularities, and vice versa, in summer it leads to coolness.

It's worth noting that it will be quite dry over the next few days. Furthermore, until the end of the next working week, if there is any rain it will be very light. There are no conditions for heavy snowfall or very heavy rain.

Overall, the weekend weather will be very good as the tarmac and ground will be dry and there will be sunshine. And all this happened in the absence of wind, at unusually high temperatures.

It is interesting that some folk signs are associated with the last days of November. For example, if snow falls on November 28, it will not melt until spring. Or what November 30 will be like, so will winter. People also say: whatever the weather is like in November, April is predicted to be like this.
