Millions of workers eyeing minimum wage increase in 2026: When will the minimum wage meeting be held?

The countdown has begun for the 2026 minimum wage negotiations, which involve more than 7 million employees in Türkiye and, indirectly, the entire salaried segment. With the expectation of maintaining the purchasing power of workers due to inflation and high living costs, it is a matter of great curiosity for the Committee to determine the minimum wage it will meet. So when will the first meeting on the 2026 minimum wage be held?

The countdown has begun for the first meeting of the 2026 Minimum Wage Determination Committee. As December arrives, the date of the minimum wage meeting, which is of interest to millions of employees, is under investigation. So when will the 2026 minimum wage meeting be held?

WHEN WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE DETERMINING COMMITTEE MEET?

The Committee for determining the minimum wage is carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, meeting in the first week of December every year.

The commission is governed by a board consisting of workers, employers and government representatives.

Accordingly; The 2026 minimum wage increase meetings are scheduled to begin December 1-5.

WHAT WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE?

This year, the net minimum wage is 22 thousand 104 TL. If the minimum wage increases by 30% in 2026, this figure will increase to 28 thousand 735 TL, and if it increases by 25%, it will increase to 27 thousand 630 TL.

Experts predict the minimum wage increase will be at 25-30%.

WILL THERE BE WORKERS AT THE TABLE?

Currently, the Committee that determines the minimum wage consists of 5 workers, 5 employers and 5 government representatives. Decisions in the committee are made by majority vote.

Workers did not accept this situation, allowing the government and employers to make decisions together and decided not to participate in meetings.

All eyes are now on whether the government will take any steps to have TÜRK-İŞ join the negotiations.
