One of Australia's most famous and loved artists, Toni Lamond, has died aged 94. She also had a successful international career working in the US and UK.

Patricia “Tony” Lamond, born in Sydney in 1932, is a film, television, stage, cabaret and vaudeville actress, singer, dancer, television presenter and media personality. She started her career as a child – on radio.

She first appeared on stage in the 1950s and quickly became a musical theater star. On screen since the 1960s The artist has won many awards, she is the author of several books, including three autobiographies.

Her ex-husband was actor Frank Sheldon, who committed suicide some time after the couple divorced. Their son is singer and actor Tony Sheldon.

At some point, Lamond had to seek treatment at a private clinic – she was addicted to strong prescription drugs. The actress was one of the first Australian celebrities to publicly admit that she had such a problem.

The star's death was reported by IMDb. The information has been confirmed by colleagues.
