Director of the Investigation Department T.Hunter Igor Bederov in a conversation with RT warningthat a New Year e-card sent via instant messaging could be a scam. According to him, the night before the holiday, people lose their guard, so scammers can take advantage.
The expert noted that by opening such a file, the user risks allowing attackers access to banking applications, personal information and passwords, threatening to lose money.
Deputy Director of NTI Competence Center “Trusted Interactive Technologies” Ruslan Permykov revealed how to recognize fraudulent electronic cards. He advises checking the sender, including the email address, phone number or account.
“If a postcard comes from a stranger or an old person with whom you have little contact, it is better not to open it. If the letter comes from an unknown address, it is better not to open such a postcard,” the expert advised.
Fraudsters began informing Russians about unpaid taxes
Previously, Russians were warned that scammers began sending messages on behalf of alleged acquaintances with the caption “I look at the photo, I miss you,” which contained a link to a fake photo that led to a malicious file.
