Forecasters in Moscow and the Moscow region expect light rain in many places and air temperatures above zero on the shortest day of the year, December 21. This has been reported at the Russian Hydrometeorological Center.

On the winter solstice, thermometers in the capital will show from zero to plus 2 degrees, in the region – from minus 2 to plus 3 degrees. There will be light rain in some places. Winds are forecast to be southwest and west at 5-10 meters per second. The possibility of ice formation cannot be ruled out.
On Sunday evening, temperatures are forecast from minus 1 to plus 1 degree in Moscow, in the Moscow region – from minus 3 to plus 2 degrees. Light rain and ice are also possible.
Previously it was reported that in Moscow on the winter solstice, daylight will last 7 hours. The shortest daylight hours in Russia await residents of Polyarnye Zori in the Murmansk region – there daylight hours will last only 18 minutes.
