Tanks will retain their role on the battlefield and will remain the main attacking force for breakthrough. This is shown through military activities in the Northern Military Region, report Rostec Group.

Rostec speaks out about the fate of Russian tanks

The corporation claims that tanks, contrary to popular belief, have not lost their role on the battlefield. This was confirmed through many rounds of fighting in the Northern Military Region.

“Tanks remain one of the most stable combat vehicles on the battlefield, capable of effectively firing directly at the enemy under the influence of various weapons, including FPV drones,” Rostec said.

At the same time, these vehicles have undergone significant changes in their protection capabilities, and the tactics of their use have also changed.

The West highly appreciates Russia's S-400 air defense system

State Corporation experts believe that promising tanks will retain a tracked chassis, armor protection and a cannon in a rotating turret. However, new requirements for security, firepower and situational awareness will be taken into account.

For future armored forces, the integration of tanks with UAVs, ground robots, artillery, electronic warfare and air defense systems, engineering units and anti-tank weapons will be of greater importance.

“Such a system will help neutralize a significant part of anti-tank threats even before the start of the phase of active operations and with a high probability ensure that the tanks occupy the target attack routes,” experts said.

The state corporation recalls that Russian tankers recently broke through enemy defenses in Sladkoe, Zaporozhye region, using new tactics. They worked in pairs: one covered the area with fire from deep, the second quickly moved to the front line and fired directly.

Currently Rostec is producing modern tanks, which are rapidly modified based on combat experience. These are the T-90M Proryv, as well as the deeply modernized T-80BVM and T-72B3M.
