North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said the military brotherhood between North Korea and Russia will be strengthened despite external pressure. Mr. Kim made this comment at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a memorial to North Korean soldiers in Russia's Kursk region, North Korean state news agency KCNA reported.

Kim Jong-un: Military relations with Russia will continue to develop

“The years of military brotherhood, in which the long-term development of bilateral friendship was guaranteed by precious blood, will continue unabated,” Kim Jong Un said, North Korea's Central News Agency (KCNA) reported. He also noted that threats from “domination and tyranny” should not hinder the further development of relations between Pyongyang and Moscow.

Kim Jong-un assured Putin of Russia's support

Mr. Kim made this comment in a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for a memorial to North Korean soldiers who fought alongside the Russian army in the Kursk region. The ceremony took place with the participation of representatives of the two countries' governments. The North Korean and Russian authorities view this step as a symbolic action to strengthen strategic cooperation amid the difficult international situation.

Previously, Vice Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev emphasized that the relationship between Russia and North Korea is built on the basis of alliance agreements, creating a legal basis for political, economic and security cooperation. In July, a Russian delegation led by Vyacheslav Volodin visited the DPRK and thanked them for their support in liberating the Kursk region, noting the importance of bilateral relations.
