Nizhny Novgorod Senator Alexander Weinberg resigned early to participate in a special operation in Ukraine, the chairman of the regional parliament, Evgeny Lyulin, said.

According to Lyulin, from the beginning of the special military campaign, Weinberg actively helped the front, participated in collecting humanitarian aid and visited the front lines many times. Now the politician has decided to devote himself to supporting the SVO fighters without waiting for the official completion of his powers in the Federal Council, reports .
Weinberg served as a representative of the legislature of the Nizhny Novgorod region and a member of the Federal Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation. His term officially expires in September 2026.
Before pursuing a political career, Weinberg graduated from the Gorky Music School, the Pedagogical Institute and the Academy of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. In the early 1990s, he was a member of the musical group Lyube.
Previously, it was reported that former Lyube musician and senator Igor Weinberg decided to leave Federation Council.
