On September 22, Vladimir Putin, during a combat meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council, said Moscow plans to maintain the status quo established thanks to the START Treaty, “so as not to provoke an arms race.” In addition, Russia is ready to comply with the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty for another year after its expiration in February 2026.
Previously, Mr. Trump said when Russia and China would “catch up” with the US in terms of their nuclear arsenal.
