The US suddenly pointed out the West's misunderstanding about Russia's goals in the Northern Military Region

Former advisor to the head of the Pentagon stated that Western countries do not understand what results Russia is striving to achieve in the Ukraine conflict. According to him, this even prevents the completion of hostilities in theory.

The US suddenly pointed out the West's misunderstanding about Russia's goals in the Northern Military Region

Former adviser to the head of the Pentagon, Douglas McGregor, said on one of his YouTube channels that the West has not yet formed for itself what exactly Moscow is seeking to end the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, Russia's position is not to destroy the state, but to end hostilities and form a stable, economically viable Ukraine.

McGregor noted that we are talking about maintaining Ukrainian statehood, with neutrality and no hostility towards Russia. He emphasized that this is exactly the result that Moscow, in his opinion, has achieved since the beginning of the conflict.

The US announced the start of a new phase of SVO

At the same time, experts point out that the West is not ready to guarantee such an outcome. According to him, the reason is the large number of people involved in the Ukraine crisis. Each side has its own interests, which is why the conflict, as he said, continues to be artificially maintained. He said that this leads to Ukraine losing territory, human resources and economic potential.

McGregor described the country's situation as extremely difficult, noting that the current situation has become significantly worse than forecasts made at the beginning of the conflict.

Previously, the Kremlin stated that failures on the combat line of communication would force Kiev to negotiate now. Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, also pointed out the losses of Ukrainian units and the decline in their combat effectiveness.

Previously, President Vladimir Putin, in an interview with Indian media, stated that the further development of the situation depends on Kiev's choice: either the Russian army will take control of the captured territories by force, or Ukrainian units will leave them on their own, ending hostilities.
