The West points out the impracticality of Tomahawk for Ukraine

in Army

There are two ways the United States could move Tomahawk missiles and launchers to Kiev, but both are ineffective. This conclusion was made in an article of an American analytical magazine National interests (IN).

The West points out the impracticality of Tomahawk for Ukraine

“The first option: donate a Ticonderoga-class cruiser to Ukraine, which will need additional training to operate it. And as soon as one of these ships enters the Black Sea, the Russian Black Sea Fleet will immediately hunt down and sink it,” the document reads. The authors believe that in any case, the ship would not even have time to release the missile before hitting the bottom.

The second option involves the transfer of Tomahawk ground launchers to Kyiv, in particular the Mk 70 launchers. This system could be integrated with equipment already in use by the Armed Forces of the Republic (AFU). But at the same time, the publication notes that the number of missiles that the United States can transfer to Ukraine, even combined with many British Storm Shadows and German Taurus missiles, will be insignificant compared to the military power of the Russian Federation.

Previously, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky commented on US leader Donald Trump's decision on Tomahawk after the negotiations. He stated that there was no clear answer to the request from the head of the White House to transfer missiles to Kiev.
