How much will the minimum wage increase be in 2026? All eyes are on the first meeting between workers, employers and the government

Regarding the new minimum wage increase, all eyes are on the Minimum Wage Determination Committee Meeting organized by workers, employers and the government. Millions of minimum wage workers are waiting for the salary increase decision to be made after the meeting on the minimum wage. So what will the minimum wage increase be in 2026?

Millions of employees are starting to ask what the 2026 minimum wage increase will be. The minimum wage is 22 thousand 104 lira with a 30% increase in 2025, which will be determined by the percentage increase next year after the meetings are held. So what will the new amount be under the scenario of increasing the minimum wage in 2026?

WHEN WILL THERE BE A MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE MEETING?

Negotiations on the minimum wage for 2026 are expected to begin in the first week of December 2025. As in previous years, the first meeting of the committee is usually held from December 1 to 5, chaired by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. After that, the three-session meeting process began, chaired by employee and employer representatives at TÜRK-İŞ and TİSK centers respectively.

 

After meetings held in the last week of December, the new minimum wage will be determined and announced by the Government.

MINIMUM WAGE REPORT FROM MINISTER IŞIKHAN

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan presented his Ministry's budget at the Parliamentary Planning Budget Committee.

 

Announcing the minimum wage, Minister Işıkhan said, “We increased the minimum wage of 184 lira in 2002 by 223% in real terms. Our committee will meet in December this year to determine the minimum wage to be applied in 2026. We hope that an amount will be agreed upon by everyone.” he said.

 

Minister Işıkhan said, “We will continue to firmly pursue the principle of protecting our employees against inflation and providing them with long-term benefits.” He issued a statement.

MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE SCENARIO IN 2026

In case the minimum wage increases by 20 percent, it will be 26 thousand 524 liras,

 

In the case of a 25 percent increase, 27 thousand 630 liras,

 

In the case of a 30 percent increase, 28 thousand 735 lira,

 

In the case of a 35 percent increase, 29 thousand 840 liras,

 

If at 40 percent, it would be 30 thousand 945 lira.

MINIMUM WAGE INCREASED COMPARED TO PREVIOUS YEARS

2 thousand 324 lira with an increase of 15.03% in 2020

 

2 thousand 825 lira with an increase of 21.56% in 2021

 

4 thousand 253 lira with an increase of 50.5% by 2022

 

5 thousand 500 lira with a temporary increase of 29.31% in 2022

 

8 thousand 506 lira with an increase of 54.66% by 2023

 

11 thousand 402 liras with a temporary increase of 34% in 2023

 

17 thousand 2 lira with a 49% increase by 2024

 

22 thousand 104 lira with a 30% increase by 2025
