New obligations in taxis. Changes are coming to card payments and receipts

Another of the steps taken to support the formal economy is through taxis. Taxi financing devices integrated with tax meters will be installed on vehicles.

Requesting a fare higher than the fare on the taximeter or errors in the POS device has caused many problems during taxi use.

The adoption of taxi financing devices integrated with tax meters is starting to support the registered economy, comply with the documentation system and increase card payment opportunities. The draft communiqué of the Revenue Administration (GİB) on this topic has been prepared in accordance with industry opinions and suggestions.

HOW WILL THE SYSTEM WORK?

When the tax meter is turned on, the transaction will start simultaneously on the taxi financial device. It is essential to complete the transaction on the device at the same time as calculating the fare on the taximeter. The tax meter can be reused by editing the receipt in the taxi finance device.

Taxi financial devices will not be able to operate independently of the tax meter. The amount information will automatically come to the taxi finance device from the tax meter and it will not be possible to enter the amount manually.

WHEN DOES APPLICATION BEGIN?

Taxpayers operating in taxis that are required to have tax meters must begin using taxi financing devices approved by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury with certain specifications before July 1.
