In Moscow, as snow and ice are expected, a yellow weather danger level has been declared. This was reported to the Russian Federal Hydrometeorological Center.
According to weather forecasters, rain in the form of snow is forecast in the capital in the evening, and in some places there may be ice and wet snow clinging to power lines and trees. The yellow level, which indicates potentially hazardous weather conditions, will come into effect from 23:00 GMT and will remain in place until 21:00 GMT on Monday, December 22. The department also warned of possible icy conditions on roads.
In the Moscow region, the same level of weather danger will be introduced for the same reason, but it will take effect an hour earlier – from 21:00 Moscow time. Forecasters note that by Monday evening, frost conditions in the Moscow region could intensify.
According to forecasts, on Monday night the air temperature in Moscow will be from −1 to +1 ° C, in the region – from −3 to +2 ° C. Southwest and southwest winds have a speed of 6-11 m/s.
Previously, Moscow City Hall reported that city services are constantly monitoring the condition of the road network and carrying out the necessary work in connection with the expected bad weather. The city services complex urges residents to be careful, not to hide under trees or leave cars near them, and that drivers must strictly observe speed and distance limits.
