A yellow weather hazard level has been declared in Moscow due to ice and wind

A yellow weather warning has been issued in Moscow due to icy conditions and strong winds. This is proven by data on the website of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center.

It notes that as southwest winds accelerate to up to 15 m/s, the danger level will increase from 9:00 on March 17 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22. The Met Office ice warning will be in force until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23. It also applies to the Moscow region. A yellow danger level has also been introduced in the Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Ivanovo, Ryazan, Vladimir, Smolensk, Kaluga, Tula, Bryansk, Belgorod and Kursk regions.

Previously, the height of snowfall at the VDNKh weather station in Moscow was nearly double the climate standard and updated record in 1966. After snowfall in the past 24 hours, the snow cover continued to thicken. At the reference meteorological station VDNH, its height reached 70 cm, which is 1.8 times higher than the norm for February 21 – 38. The previous maximum for this day was recorded in 1966. Then the snow height was 64 cm.
