The lowest temperature on Earth in the past 24 hours was recorded in three settlements of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). This was reported to TASS by the Russian Federal Hydrometeorological Center. According to weather forecasters, the world championship in cold weather took place in the city of Pokrovsk, where the air temperature dropped to −51.7°C. The second place belongs to the Sukhana weather station in the Oleneksky region of Yakutia with an index of −49.4°C, the third place belongs to the village of Krest-Khaldzhay, where frosts rose to −48.7°C. The Hydrometeorological Center also noted that Australia and South Africa lead the rankings of the hottest places on the planet every day. Thus, in western Australia in the Telfer area, the air warmed up to +44.1°C, at Sydney airport the temperature reached +42.6°C, and in Upington, South Africa, a temperature of +39.2°C was recorded. In addition, weather forecasters provide data for the Moscow region. The warmest spot over the past day was the Cherusti settlement near Moscow, where the temperature rose to +1.6°C. The coldest night in the region was recorded in Kashira, where the thermometer dropped to -3.2°C.
