
After completing search and rescue work in the collapsed building in the Gebze district of Kocaeli, the examination of the debris by the expert committee continues.
Investigations by the expert committee continue in and around the rubble of a seven-story building that collapsed in the Gebze district of Kocaeli and killed four people from a family of five. Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the expert committee, consisting of civil and geophysical engineers and architects, on the rubble of the building that collapsed on Mevlana Mahallesi Issıkgöl Street at about 07:00 on October 29, a stability study was carried out by using a sledgehammer to pound the ground in and around the debris area and measuring underground seismicity with a deflectometer. During the measurement process, people are asked not to approach barriers in and around the debris area. Electricity distribution group Sakarya Inc. (SEDAŞ) and PALGAZ continue their work in the region. Additionally, while security teams and police maintain security measures with barricades around the rubble, people are still allowed to pass through the safe area.WHOLESALE BUILDING MOMENTSWHAT HAPPENED?  The 7-storey Arslan apartment in the Mevlana district of Gebze district collapsed at around 07:00 on October 29, mother Emine, father Levent and their children Muhammet Emir 12 years old, Hayrunnisa Nur 14 years old and Dilara Bilir 18 years old were left under the rubble. Thanks to the efforts of search and rescue teams dispatched to the area, the bodies of brothers Muhammet Emir and Hayrunnisa Nur Bilir were found yesterday afternoon, and Dilara Bilir was rescued. Crews, who intensified their work throughout the night, removed the bodies of father Levent and mother Emine Bilir from the rubble after about 19 hours of work.
