Dismantling the iPhone 17 exposes vulnerable structural components

Blogger Zach Nelson from the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything in a new video analyzed the basic version of the iPhone 17 to evaluate the design features of the device and its repairability. During the implementation process, he identified vulnerable factors.

Dismantling the iPhone 17 exposes vulnerable structural components

The opening process begins with removing the back panel using heat and isopropyl alcohol. The case design provides a flexible cable connecting the motherboard to the MagSafe induction coil, additionally protected by a metal plate secured with screws.

When removing the display module, Nelson accidentally damaged the connection cable, resulting in a complete loss of the image. According to him, the display module in new models is mounted in a way that requires the most careful separation – it should be opened like a book, avoiding tools penetrating deep into the adhesive layer.

During further disassembly, the blogger removed the battery, equipped it with Apple's proprietary locking system, and also disassembled the camera, speaker, vibration motor, plug in place of the SIM card slot, and motherboard.

He paid special attention to the limited availability of components: according to his observations, Apple does not provide a USB connector for open sale with new iPhone models, which could make it difficult to repair the device if the component breaks.
