The developers of the Opera browser introduced the interactive portal Web Rewind, dedicated to the history of the development of the Internet. The launch of the project coincides with the 30th anniversary of the browser, which the company will celebrate in 2026, news portal Habr reported.
Web Rewind is a chronologically structured digital archive dating back to 1995. Users have access to a breakdown by year with an overview of key events and technological phases: from the dial-up and floppy disk era to the emergence of major online platforms and services.
Key milestones documented in the archive include the launch of Google, the rise of MySpace and Twitter, and the evolution of web technology and user interfaces. Most of the objects presented are interactive. Users can interact with virtual elements, for example in 1995 you could click on the keyboard, mouse and rotate the computer.
Opera emphasized that the project focuses on demonstrating the technological transformation of the Internet over the past three decades and reflecting on the browser's contribution to shaping the modern digital environment.
