Social Network X (formerly Twitter) has introduced additional mechanisms for spam detection and automated activity, including AI agents. Product Manager Nikita Bir stated this on his X page.

According to a company spokesperson, as part of the updated policy, accounts that lack verified user interaction with the interface, such as touching the screen, may be blocked. The restrictions also have the potential to affect linked records. At the same time, X emphasized that the goal of the initiative is to fight spam and abuse, not to ban AI solutions altogether.
It is acceptable to use tools connected through the official API from xAI. However, X acknowledges that accurately classifying use cases requires additional time and technical refinement.
Interest in autonomous agents increased significantly in January 2026 with the emergence of the open source Clawdbot project. It allows you to run AI bots based on models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and other developers, including Google. Following Anthropic's call, the project was renamed – first Moltbot, then OpenClaw.
Following the wave of popularity, users began connecting autonomous agents with their own X accounts or creating their own profiles, often for entertainment purposes.
