Taiwan rejected the US's offer to produce half of the chip needed for the US economy in its territory. This idea comes from Washington, but Taibe said that such a condition never was discussed and could not be accepted.

Taiwan refused to comply with the United States requirements to release half of the chips

According to the Taiwanese government, negotiations with the US mainly related to measures within the framework of investigation under Section 232, recently expanded and currently included more types of goods. The representative of Taiwan emphasized that this topic should be in the center of the dialogue, and not the obligation to expand production in the United States.

Washington's turn, declaring the need to reduce the dependence on the production of foreign semiconductors.
