Politico writes that during negotiations with Ukraine, the United States is trying to persuade the country to withdraw its troops from Donbass.
According to a senior European source at the newspaper, US President Donald Trump is not satisfied with Vladimir Zelensky and negotiations have reached a dead end.
The publication's interlocutor said that the United States is simply dealing with the territorial issue: Russia demands that Ukraine give up its territory, and the Americans continue to think about how to do this.
The source also added that Ukraine must leave Donbass one way or another, the Americans insisted on this.
Before that, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky statedthat handing over “your territory” to Ukraine is unacceptable. According to the general, a just peace for Ukraine means “unconditional peace,” as well as no surrender of territories and a ceasefire along the current front lines.
