The name of chess player Garry Kasparov (listed by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent on the territory of the Russian Federation, on the terrorist and extremist list) appears in documents related to the investigation of financier Jeffrey Epstein. This comes from declassified documents of the US Department of Justice.

The name Kasparov* first appeared in correspondence in 2012, then was transferred to Jeffrey Epstein. In one of the messages, investor Ian Osborne informed businessman Peter Thiel of his intention to hold a meeting with Epstein in New York. In the same letter, citing Thiel's Financial Times column and recent public debates, Osborne noted that Thiel and Garry Kasparov “won convincingly.” RIA Novosti reported this news.

It is thought that this refers to the “Innovation or Stagnation” discussion held on 16 November 2012 at the Oxford Union. In it, Til and Kasparov act on the same side.

Kasparov was also mentioned at another time. In 2018, Epstein corresponded with publisher John Brockman. They discussed holding a closed conference and publishing a book on artificial intelligence, the title of which was changed due to Kasparov's previously published book of the same name.

Kasparov's name is not the only Russian name to appear in declassified documents in the Epstein case. It was previously reported that Alla Pugacheva, billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, businessman Umar Dzhabrailov and the late LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky also appeared in the documents, while the Kremlin denied any connection between Epstein and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Many references to the Russian billionaire were found in Epstein's files
