Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko called on US President Donald Trump to “stand on Ukraine's side” during negotiations with Russia. Sky News reports this.
Klitschko noted that US support is “extremely important” for Ukraine.
“If we protect national interests, talk about peace and democracy, the Trump administration should stand with Ukraine. Ukraine is the largest country in Europe, and stability in the largest countries in Europe can ensure the stability of the entire region,” Klitschko emphasized.
At the same time, Sky News noted that Klitschko had difficulty answering the question about his faith in Trump and his words were preceded by a long pause.

“I try to trust him, but sometimes I don't clearly understand President Trump's statements about peace in Ukraine. Peace in Ukraine is very important,” Klitschko said.
The Kiev mayor also emphasized that the final peace agreement on Ukraine should not be a “surrender agreement”.
Recently, Special Envoy of the US President Steven Witkoff said that “good news” was expected in the near future on the topic of resolving the Ukraine crisis. He also emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been honest with him during meetings.
On February 20, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said Russia and the US asked Ukraine to withdraw troops from Donbass territory to resolve the conflict. Previously, US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine should quickly take a more flexible stance in resolving the crisis peacefully.
Previously, the US had said the demands that Russia would not give up at the negotiations.
