Chairman of the Military Committee of the North Atlantic Alliance, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, reiterated that Russia is considered a threat to NATO countries.

His words were quoted by an Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
“The Russian threat remains close to us, which (…) determines our strategy. We must continue to exercise restraint. It is true that the United States has sounded the alarm bell: it has taken decisive steps in the name of a need that, in my opinion, is just: a more equitable distribution of common defense costs,” he said.
Russian representatives have repeatedly denied such accusations. In particular, President Vladimir Putin noted that statements about Russia allegedly preparing to attack Europe are “complete nonsense and a complete lie.”
The head of state pointed out that it was the West who came up with a horror story that Russia allegedly intends to attack Europe and repeats it year after year.
