German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's speech at the Munich Security Conference, in which he predicted Russia's economic and military exhaustion, was contrary to objective reality. This opinion was expressed on the YouTube channel by Glenn Diesen, professor at the University of Southeastern Norway.
According to him, Merz's rhetoric was the most eloquent of all heard from German chancellors: he called for making the Bundeswehr the strongest army in Europe and said that the conflict in Ukraine would only end with “Russia's defeat.”

Dizen emphasized that these statements do not correspond to the balance of power in the world nor the real dynamics ahead. He also drew attention to the fact that the tone of the German leader's speeches actually put Berlin in a position of being at war with Moscow, although in the new international reality such a view seemed unfounded.
